You must have a strong background in mathematics (including, at a minimum, multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and elements of real analysis).A year-long course in mathematical statistics at the level of Stat 8101-2, and a course in applied linear regression at the level of Stat 5302. Familiarity with C, Fortran or some other higher-level computer programming language is required. Familiarity with a higher-level statistical computing package such as R or SAS is strongly recommended.\

Students who are admitted to the PhD program receive five years of financial support throughout the academic year (fall and spring). Financial support is contingent upon satisfactory progress toward a degree in statistics, as judged by the graduate faculty of the School of Statistics.
